Solo Travel in a NutShell

For young adults, meeting people is not a problem anywhere at Ft. Lauderdale's beach, but finding a place to stay that doesn't break the piggybank can be a challenge. Since the east side of the city is where most of the action is for this age group, it's wise to concentrate a lodgings search on the mom-and-pop establishments that are off the beach but still not far from A1A, or cross the Intracoastal at Sunrise Boulevard and check the smaller motels north along U.S. Highway 1.
Very nice rooms and efficiencies can also be had a few minutes ride south of Ft. Lauderdale in Dania Beach or just north of the border in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea.

If money isn't a major concern, by all means pick one of the hotels or motel apartments across from the ocean on the beach's main drag between Sunrise Boulevard and Bahia Mar. In this neighborhood, the party never stops. Most of the area's most popular bars and restaurants are clustered here, including the new multi-story Beach Place entertainment complex.
